Michael Gannon is an Australian obstetrician and gynaecologist.
Gannon served as president of the Australian Medical Association (AMA) from 2016 to 2018, and AMA (Western Australia) from 2014 to 2016.
He is personally opposed to euthanasia. Gannon was Chair of the AMA Ethics Committee when the organisation considered their Position Statement on the issue of euthanasia, and AMA President when that document was released to the public in 2016. He was criticised after tweeting, of the Victorian Parliament's debate on the issue, ‘don't forever alter society because a few powerful people see their parent die.' (Mitchell, 2017).
