Collection Number14-010Date1820-1999Scope and ContentsResearch material gathered by Roderick in the writing of his books on Henry Lawson, Miles Franklin, Frederick Leichhardt and other literary and historical subjects.BackgroundColin Roderick (1911-2000) was a writer, editor, academic and educator. He worked as an editor, then as a director, at Angus & Robertson (publishers) from 1945-65, before taking up the position of Foundation Professor, English Literature at the later-named James Cook University in Townsville (1965-75).He established the Foundation for Australian Literary Studies and was associated with it until his death. The Colin Roderick Award (presented annually by the Foundation) is one of Australia's oldest and most prestigious literary awards.
