Kevin James Andrews (9 November 1955— ) is a former Australian politician and member of the Liberal Party of Australia.
A proud conservative and Catholic, he was elected to the House of Representatives in 1991. As a backbencher in the Howard Government (1996-2007) Andrews presented a private member’s bill, the Euthanasia Laws Bill 1996. This passed into law a year later and nullified the Northern Territory's pioneering Rights of the Terminally Ill Act 1995 - the first in the world to explicitly legalise euthanasia - by making it illegal to assist another person to die anywhere in Australia.
Andrews held office in successive governments as the Minister for Ageing; the Minister for Employment and Workplace Relations; the Minister for Immigration and Citizenship; the Minister for Social Service; and the Minister for Defence. From 2019 until his retirement in 2022 Andrews was ’the Father of the House’, ie. its longest continuously-serving member.
