Nick Dondas
Nicholas Manuel Dondas (26 October 1939— ) is a former Australian politician.
Born and educated in Perth, Dondas moved to Darwin and married in 1972. He represented the Country Liberal Party in the seat of Casuarina from 1974 until he resigned in 1994. During this time Dondas held several ministerial roles, and was deputy leader of the CLP from 1983 to 1987.
In 1996, Dondas was elected to the House of Representatives. He opposed the Euthanasia Laws Bill proposed by Kevin Andrews, describing it in September as a "Pandora's box of federal interference" and saying that "the bill was not about the merits of euthanasia [...] this constitutional attack on the Northern Territory should not be supported." (Commonwealth, 1996). Dondas believed that the debate had been directed by the Catholic community (Warhurst, 2008).
Dondas relinquished his CLP ticket on his return to Territory politics, unsuccessfully contesting the Port Darwin seat as an independent in the 2001 election (Green, 2005).
