Voluntary Assisted Dying South Australia (VADSA) - previously the South Australian Voluntary Euthanasia Society (SAVES) -was established in 1983 and is a registered charity.
SAVES aims "to achieve legislation that will allow a hopelessly ill and intolerably suffering patient to request and receive a quick and peaceful death, brought about under medical supervision and subject to prescribed safeguards."
The Voluntary Assisted Dying Bill (SA) was passed by the South Australian Parliament on June 24, 2021, and came into effect on January 31, 2023.
