Maningrida Community Education Centre

The Maningrida Community Education Centre (CEC) is located in the community of Maningrida, 550km east of Darwin. The Kunibidji are the traditional owners on the land where Maningrida is located.

The CEC is a Bilingual school, meaning that primary students learn in their own language before English is gradually introduced during the primary years. The two languages that form the two Bilingual programs are Ndjebbana and Burarra. Seven main languages are spoken in the area, predominantly Ndjebbana, Burrara, Nakara, Kunwin'ku, Gurrgoni, Rembarrnga and Jinang. English is spoken to various degrees of proficiency.

In 2003 the Maningrida CEC was accredited to offer secondary schooling to Year 12. This means that students are now able to complete their senior years of school without having to relocate to finish school.

The modern Maningrida College offers education to students from Preschool to Year 12 as well as providing education services to approximately thirteen Homeland Learning Centres (HLCs) which are varying distances from Maningrida with varied accessibility (often seasonal). The College also offers vocational education and training in Maritime, Barista, Conservation & Ecosystem Management, Construction and Automotive. As of 2023, it has 479 students enrolled.
