Brian Owler

Brian Kenneth Owler is an Australian neurosurgeon and former president of the Australian Medical Association (2014-2016). 

Owler was educated at the University of Sydney, studying for a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery between 1990 and 1996. During this, he obtained a Bachelor of Science (Medicine), graduating with first-class Honours in 1993. 

Owler later studied at the University of Sydney again for a Ph.D. in Surgery between 2000 and 2004. 

Owler was a board member of Go Gentle, a pro-voluntary assisted dying organisation, in 2018. Also in 2018, he was recognised for his work by being made a Member of the Order of Australia, General Division, for significant service to medicine and to education.
