Alan Powell
Alan Walter Powell (7 January 1936—25 November 2020) was an Australian historian and author. He lived in the Northern Territory.
Formerly Dean of the Arts Faculty, Powell was Emeritus Professor of History and Political Science at Charles Darwin University. Among his books are Far Country: A Short History of the Northern Territory, Patrician Democrat, The Shadow's Edge, and War by Stealth, and he was the General Editor of the Northern Territory Dictionary of Biography, Volume 1.
On 31 May 2017, a symposium, Professor Alan Powell: Beyond the Far Country, was held at the Northern Territory Library to celebrate Powell’s contribution to the understanding of North Australian history.
He was married with three children.
