Luke Gosling
Luke John Anthony Gosling (17 September 1971—) is an Australian politician.
Gosling was born in Melbourne, the eldest of eight children. He has a Bachelor of Arts in history and politics from the University of New South Wales. After serving in the Australian Defence Force for 13 years, Gosling worked abroad for NGOs in countries such as Afghanistan, Cambodia, Albania and Timor-Leste.
Gosling has been the Australian Labor Party member for the Australian House of Representatives seat of Solomon in the Northern Territory since 2016.
Gosling is personally opposed to voluntary assisted dying; however, in August 2022, he co-sponsored a private members' bill to repeal the John Howard-era legislation preventing the ACT and NT from assisted-dying laws. He encouraged his colleagues to treat the bill as an issue of restoring democratic rights, instead of euthanasia (Jarvis-Bardy, 2022; McIlroy, 2022).
