Brian Thomas Manning (13 October 2032-3 November 2013) actively supported the Wave Hill strike by the Gurindji and was involved the the campaign for independence of Timor Leste. In 1974 he and Robert Wesley Smith formed the Darwin branch of the Campaign for Eaat Timor (CIET). He was instrumental in operating a clandestine radio link of Fretlin broadcasts to the World.
In 2014 Manning was awarded the Collar of the Order of Timor-Leste posthumously.
