Malarndirri McCarthy

Malarndirri McCarthy (1970-) is a Yanyuwa woman, born in Katherine, NT, in 1970. She was a journalist for many years and was elected to the NT Legislative Assembly in 2005, where she served two terms in the seat of Arnhem. In 2016 she first was elected to represent the Territory in the Australian Senate and re-elected in 2019 and 2022.

Ms. McCarthy is impassioned with bringing communities together and ensure remote communities are engaged with and listened to.
